What is Reiki?
Reiki stands for "Universal life force energy". Reiki is a hands-on system of healing which draws from the Universal life force which surrounds all living things. It provides exactly what a person needs and creates an effect that is appropriate for each individual. Reiki is not a religion, nor does it require religious belief. Belief in Reiki is not required for the healing energy to work.
Why Receive Reiki?
A gentle, hands-on reiki treatment benefits the whole person. The body, emotions, mind and spirit may reiceive healing during a session. Reiki can relax the body and spirit, restoring equilibrium. The results may include a feeling of relaxation, peace, security and well being. Reiki can speed healing, reduce pain and enhance medical or alternative healing practices. Through relaxation, reiki promotes physical, emotional and spiritual wellness.
What to expect
A reki session only requires the intent to be open to receive the healing energy. During a reiki session a person remains fully clothed [ with exception of shoes and metal jewelry ], while laying on a bodywork table for comfort. In a very simple, non-invasive way, the reiki healer lays their hands on or above the body in a series of positions from the head to the feet to allow the energy to flow throughout.
How it works
To receive the best results, simply remain relaxed and calm and enjoy the healing energy that flows through you. Physical symptoms are a result of imbalances or blockages in our energy field.. Negative feelings and thoughts can attach themselves to the energy field and disrupt the flow of energy. A reiki session directs healing energy to these blockages and clears, heals and straightens the energy pathways. This allows the body to heal itself.
The Reiki Practitioner
As a reiki practitioner, we act as a channel for the universal healing energy. We neither predict nor influence the benefits which are received. We do not decide what to heal or how healing may take place. The reiki energy knows exactly what to do and where to go to promote healing. It provides exactly what an individual needs at the appropriate time.
